I really couldn’t figure out what to call this wonderful dessert. The reason? Because it has cream cheese, so it could be called a cheesecake. However, it has layers, so it could be called a parfait. Then again, this marvelous dessert has Nutella, so it could be called Heaven. Therefore, I stuck it all together into one name; Nutella Cheesecake Parfait. And y’all, this divine bit of wonderfulness is so incredibly simple to make. We’re baking love! Well, actually there is no baking involved.
Let’s talk love
I used to think that love was such a simple thing. Either you loved someone or you didn’t. Pretty black and white with no grey area. Then in one night my entire world came tumbling down around me, and over the past 3 years; through a lot of heartache and trial, I have learned that when it comes to love there’s no such thing as simple. I learned the hard way that you can hate someone’s guts and wish bad things upon them while simultaneously still feeling absolutely crazy about them and wanting to spend eternity by their side. It’s a crazy awful wonderful thing, Love is.
Maybe love doesn’t exist, maybe it’s all in our mind. Maybe love is just a fantasy we grow up believing in, like the Tooth Fairy and Santa Clause. Perhaps we believe in love because we want so badly for magic to be real.
Or perhaps, rather than love being fantasy, maybe fantasy is love and real is magic…
Whoa Nellie! Going all philosophical on you when all you wanted was a Nutella Cheesecake Parfait recipe! No more talk of Love…
Let’s talk Rats
Wait, what?! Haha! But for reals…
So you’ve heard me talk about the movie Ratatouille before. I just really love it! (Oh, there I go saying that magical or not-so-magical “L” word again!).
I digress, remember with me back to the part when Remi the rat is having his brother Emil taste things together. (If you’ve never seen the movie just nod your head and pretend like you know exactly what I am rambling on about. Then once you’re finished reading this awesome post and making this amazing dessert; I highly suggest you get that movie!).
So they are eating these foods and Remi points out that you taste swirls and dots with one food and swirls and dots with the other food. Although I should note that he totally didn’t ever say the words “Swirls and Dots”. But that is what the taste bud projections are showing.
And as Remi is pointing out these flavors; Emil is eating these foods and trying to find that world of taste that Remi is trying to show him. Then Remi says
“But when you put the two together…!”
At which point we see that when you put the two together, for Remi; it’s fireworks! However, for Emil, it’s just food.
I’m of the opinion, and I think Remi would highly agree with me, that Nutella is swirls and dots and Cream Cheese is swirls and dots, but when you put the two together even the Emil’s of the world notice that fireworks combination! Seriously y’all, Nutella and cream cheese go together like cookies and milk! Like Sampson and Delilah! Like fireworks and happiness! It’s Love. And it’s actually real… “REAL” GOOD!
Will you be my Valentine?
Forget it! We are just going to use the “L” word. Honestly, it’s a good one, be it magical or no.
Speaking of love! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Or if you’re reading this more than a week after I’ve written it, then Valentine’s Day just passed. But I’m sure you have an anniversary or a birthday or a Monday coming up; and in that case you will need this No-Bake Nutella Cheesecake Parfait recipe! Why? Because nothing says “I love you!” the way a perfect dessert does. Especially if said perfect dessert is following a perfect dinner, like Shallot Topped Filet Mignon.
Enough talk, Let’s eat!
