There’s no lunch so satisfying as a great sandwich! Heck, half the time if I have a yummy sandwich for lunch I end up needing a second one for dinner. Add some crunchy chips and a dirty Dr. Pepper and that is my idea of a Perfect Meal!
This particular turkey bacon sandwich is fan-freaking-tastic! I always eat it for the days following big turkey holidays. And sometimes I just really have to make an herb-roasted turkey for the heck of it just so I can eat this turkey bacon sandwich! Ha! For reals though y’all…
So I know, I know, Turkey sandwiches are baseline delicious. However, I add some bacon jam to this, some red pepper jelly, avocado, fantastic cheese and just the right amount of spice to take this WAY past baseline. Plus I’ve got some great light-bulb moment tips that you are going to feel oh so happy to have in your life! What can I say except “You’re Welcome!”
*Tips!
- Never put a wet ingredient up against the bread. For example: Tomato. Tomato is such a fabulous ingredient!, but if you stick it up against the bread, you’re gonna have a soggy breaded turkey bacon sandwich. Yuck.
- Make sure you’ve enough sauce/ dressing. A dry sandwich will never live up to a sandwich with enough sauce! Just take the stairs today if you’re worried about those calories, and add that extra dressing! Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.
- Next, and this is a big one: Layer those ingredients right. I like to split the meat and the cheese up with some fresh crunchy produce. I like to split the soft ingredients with the crunchy ones. Seriously y’all, mix those textures up! Trust me on this, you’re not going to believe the difference this little trick makes! Every bite makes you smile.
- Finally; make an extra! You’ll be wanting this hunk of turkey bacon sandwich deliciousness again later today.
Key ingredients for this AMAZING Turkey-Bacon Sandwich
You’ll find the full recipe below, but let me elaborate on a couple key ingredients in this recipe.
- Bacon Jam. If you’ve made this incredible recipe for Deviled Eggs, then you are a VERY SMART person. Also, if you’ve made them then you already have bacon jam on hand. Yay! Otherwise, let me telly ou about Bacon Jam/ Bacon Marmalade. You can make your own bacon marmalade. However, it is a long drawn out process that can be finicky and doesn’t always produce fabulous results. Which is why I just buy my bacon marmalade. Or bacon jam. I get mine at my local Trader Joe’s. However, you can find bacon marmalade/bacon jam at almost all grocery stores these days or online here. It’s definitely more expensive online, but honestly; it’s totally worth it!
Also, you should know that Bacon Jam is sweet and a little bit goes a long way. So rather than slather my sandwich with super strong bacon jam, I add a bit of the bacon jam to my Mayo and mix the two before I slather… - Red Pepper Jelly. Red Pepper jelly is delicious! I buy little jars at my local grocery store or you can find it online. If you are wanting to make this sandwich RIGHT NOW and just can’t wait for the red pepper jelly, I hear ya! And I got ya covered. Instead of using the red pepper jelly, just add a small squirt of Sriracha to your bacon mayo combo. It’ll still be fabulous!
