I recently took my kids on an Orlando vacation to Florida. Our itinerary included all things Disney and lots of fun in the sun!
We wanted to stay somewhere in close proximity to Orlando’s theme parks. Especially close to Disney World, Epcot, and Universal Studios. Also on the “wants list was a place with a kitchen, extra space for the kids, and lots of fun play options for our non theme-park days.
Encore Resort fit the bill and was kind enough to host us for our Orlando vacation trip. I’d love to tell you more about it.
Where to stay when Visiting Disneyworld
Encore Resort is the first branded vacation home resort of its kind. It has beautifully decorated homes ranging from 2,000 to more than 7,000 sq. ft. (3-13 bedrooms). Our home had 8 bedrooms. We very comfortable had 10 adults and a number of kids staying in our home. Which would have been extremely affordable for such a large group.
Each vacation rental features a distinctive design and the insides are decorated beautifully.
Our home had both a downstairs living area with lots of seating and a second living area upstairs (pictured above) that the kiddos claimed as their own, due to the large open floor space, available game system, and TV with access to all their favorite shows.
Kid Friendly Resorts in Orlando Florida
The outside of our home had a private backyard with a pool and hot tub. This was hands-down my kids second favorite part of the resort. We spent HOURS on hours in the backyard playing. From night-time swimming, to early morning swims, and all the hours in between: that pool got put to good use!
Oh wait! Did you catch that? I said the pool was my kid’s “second favorite” part of the resort. Haha! That’s because in their eyes nothing could beat the waterpark!!!
Even I had a blast going down all the slides, relaxing in our cabana, drinking fruity drinks and dining on yummies poolside. so much fun in fact that we cancelled one of our Disney days so we could have an extra day at the waterpark.
Resorts close to Disneyworld
I really enjoyed how close we were to all things Disney.
One evening we went and explored the Disney Boardwalk, played on the beach, got yummy ice cream and enjoyed a hilarious magic show. It was literally only 10 minutes from our house at Encore to the parking lot at the Disney boardwalk.
The next day we visited Disneyworld. Encore has Free Shuttle Transportation to Theme Parks.
Things to take with you when on an Orlando Vacation
Three things I wish I’d known to pack when taking an Orlando vacation:
- Quarters! There are toll roads everywhere in Orlando. You can pay exorbitant fees to your rental car agency or Uber driver, or you can bring your own quarters and save yourself the trouble.
- Sunscreen. Orlando is hot. We brought sunscreen, but I ended up needing to purchase more. Luckily our resort had it available.
- Portable Phone Charger. My phone died at the theme parks and I had no way to charge it inside the park. You can easily find these at any local Walmart or Target for fairly inexpensive and you will be SOOO GLAD you did it when you have a fully charged battery during the perfect picture taking moment and fireworks.
Best places to travel with kids
Honestly you guys, this trip was the best one we’ve ever taken. We were very chill with our planning. We knew there were some specific places we wanted to visit and some specific foods we wanted to eat. Otherwise we left the schedule open and just made memories together. It was delightful!!!
