The recipe is done in a bread machine, However, if you’re into bread making at all then you’ll see that this dough is incredibly easy to make with or without a bread machine!
Then we roll and shape it to bunnies, top it with melted butter, and sprinkle it with cinnamon-sugar; resulting in the most delicious cinnamon bunny bread-sticks ever!
This is such a fun activity to do with kiddos. Mine love it and ask to do it every year. Even the teenagers. It’s just a great memory maker :).
How to make Bunny Shaped Rolls
TO SHAPE THE CINNABUNNIES:
- Roll the dough into a long rectangle.
- Then cut 1 x 12 inch strips.
- Holding the strip by the middle, folded in half, twist the two sides around each other twice.
- Then lay flat on a tray and pull the “ears” of the bunny just a bit to make them more pointed and long at their ends.
- Use any leftover dough to roll into little balls and then place in the rounded part as a “tail”.
- Now, brush with butter and then sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar combination.
- Then bake them.
- Finally, when finished with baking; brush and sprinkle them one more time.
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cube butter (8TBS or 1/2 cup)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1 TBS salt
- 4 c all purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons Instant yeast
- 3-4 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
- 1/2 cup White Sugar
- 1-2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
- Dash of Salt
- Combine all ingredients and stir until well incorporated.
- 1/2 c heavy whipping cream
- 4oz room temperature cream cheese
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 TBS milk
- 3/4 c powder sugar
- Dash of salt
Instructions
- In the listed ingredients order, place ingredients in bread machine, starting with the eggs on the bottom and ending with the yeast at the very top above the flour.
- Set bread machine to "regular" dough cycle.
- Wait (usually a little less than 2 hours) while it makes your dough.
- When finished, let the dough rise for an extra 30 minutes.
- Then remove dough and on a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a large rectangle.
- Roll the dough into a long rectangle.
- Then cut 1 x 12 inch strips.
- Shape into bunnies.
- Now, brush with half of the melted butter and then sprinkle with half of the cinnamon-sugar combination.
- Let rise for 1-2 hours (Depending on the warmth of your rising area), Until 1.5 times their original size.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 14 minutes.
- Brush down with the remaining butter and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Let Cool for ten minutes and then Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.and then dip in Cream Cheese Fluff.
- Enjoy!
- Whip your heavy cream until it is thick and formng peaks.
- In a separate bowl, mix well the cream cheese, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Then add the powder sugar and salt and continue mixing until well incorporated.
- Spoon together your whipped cream and your cream cheese mixture.
