This week I hosted the most delightful pool party with friends for a “Girl’s Night Out”! Because we all know the moms in our life could use a little break now and again, and who doesn’t love hanging with her ladies?!
Anyone can throw a great party
Friends, this is something you can easily do too. No joke! I am a busy working mama of three and rarely do stuff like this because I thought it would take too much time and planning.
I thought wrong. Literally, no more than an hour of work total was put into the planning and set up of this party. Today I’m sharing 5 essential things you need to do to throw an epic party and my ideas for the easiest ways to get them done!
XOXXO- Juli
How to throw a Pool Party
So today I will be covering these five things, and voila! You’ve got what you need to throw an amazing party:
- Invites/Guests
- The Location/Decor
- Food and Drink
- Alternative Activities
- Party Favors
If any of those sound daunting, be not afraid! I’ve got yo back with easy tips for minimal effort with maximum results!
Pool Party Invitations and Guests
First, when planning a pool party, you’re going to need to put together a guest list of friends you want to invite. Keep it small or plan a big get together, totally your choice! However you will want to keep a list of attendees so that you can plan accordingly for food and drinks.
*Tip: Send the invites via social media or text message.
- Below is an invite I’ve put together that you are welcome to save or screenshot, add the address and time, then text or message it out to all your friends!
Decorations for a Pool Party
The best part about hosting a pool party?! You don’t really need much in regards to decor!
*Tip: Grab some super fun pool floats and noodles to throw in the pool, a couple big chunky towels to lay around elsewhere, plus food, and really that’s all you need.
Especially if you have a beautiful pool to work with, then the setting is more than enough.
Pool Party Food and Drink ideas
In my opinion the food and drinks are the most important part of any party. If set up in cute displays, then the food and drinks count as decor even!
Oftentimes when throwing a party I’ll do homemade food.
However, that really isn’t necessary!
*Tip: Buy pre-made foods! I dropped by my local sandwich shop and had them throw together a platter of my favorite sandwiches, then grabbed bags of chips, a jar of pickles, and fresh fruit. Voila! Just like that we had fantastic food options with no extra work or mess on my part!
Other food ideas for your pool party, most of which you can usually get a party platter from local food places:
- Pizza, you can never go wrong with pizza!
- Fried Chicken
- Mini Sliders
- Tortilla Rollups
- Lettuce Wraps
- Hot Dogs with all the fun fixins to fancy them up
Dr Pepper
Y’all know I LOVE Dr Pepper! Plus I’m in Texas, so you know my friends do too! Hence, Dr Pepper was a must at our party! And really, it should be one at yours as well.
I had all the ingredients on hand for “Dirty Dr Peppers” like the ones found here. EVERYONE raves about this drink combination!!!
You guys wanna know what makes having Dr Pepper at your pool party even more fun?!
When you buy the Dr Pepper 6/15-8/15 this summer, you can upload your receipt to this website to get some of the fun prizes I have featured right here in my blog and/or other prizes like:
- Spend $5 get 5 bottles = Dr Pepper Retro Specs
- Then, spend $10 get 10 bottles = Dr Pepper Copper Lined Mug (seen in my pictures)
- Or, spend $20 get 20 bottles = Dr Pepper Bluetooth Speakers
- Spend $30 get 30 bottles = Dr Pepper Pool Float (seen in my pictures)
*Tip: Get the new Dr Pepper Pick Your Pepper cans!
Aren’t they awesome?! Seriously loving on these cool cans and how it’s fun, individualized, and designed by millennials, for millennials.
Fun and Games for Pool Party
When I ran by Walmart to grab the Dr Peppers, ice, and chips; I dropped by the party aisle where I found an already assembled set for a photo booth.
At a pool party, you don’t need a lot of entertainment ideas because everyone will mostly, eat, drink and swim. And because it was a ladies night, there was also a lot of talking! Haha!
But knowing how everyone loves taking pictures with their friends: I set out the photo booth props with our Big Dr Pepper float and it was put to good use…
Other fun alternate activities for your pool party include:
- Outdoor games such as large Jenga, horse shoes, and corn hole
- Music, turn this into a dance party!
*Tip: Go simple. Less is often more! These are adults, they don’t need intricate entertainment.
With just a few minutes you can set up something simple but enjoyable for those guests that don’t want to swim.
Pool Party Favors/ Best Party Favors for a Girls Night Party
Last, but never least; party favors!
As a child, party favors were a must. As an adult, really they aren’t necessary, but to take your pool party up a notch, I highly suggest favors.
*Tip: A fun adult friendly option, is T-shirts! However, that takes pre-planning. If you’re doing this last minute, I suggest sending home a pack of Dr Pepper with each of your guests.
Trust me, I’m a Pepper: They’ll love you forever!
Girl’s Night Pool Party!
Y’all, with a few minutes of work and some minimal planning you can set up the basics and then really enjoy the time with your friends when they arrive.
Hosting a girl’s night summer pool party is an easy way to celebrate the season and soak up those warm summer nights!
Our night was filled with laughing, good conversation, great food, and smiles.
Was I surprised when guests suggested we make this a bi-weekly thing? Nope, no I wasn’t.
Was I overwhelmed at the thought of it? Not at all! This was easy, and so fun!
To save the ideas for later you should pin this party to your Pinterest boards.
